Avaya
S8300 Media Server
The S8300 Media Server is a Pentium-based processor that runs on a Linux
operating system and resides in slot V1 of the G700 Media Gateway.
Combined with the G700 Media Gateway, and Avaya Media Modules the S8300
provides the ability to converge voice and data into one infrastructure,
creating flexibility for growing companies.
Designed to meet the needs of highly distributed enterprises with
mission-critical voice applications, and to meet the communication needs
of small to mid-size offices, branch offices, and global multi-site
networked customers with 40–450 end points.
The Avaya S8300 Media Server/Avaya G700 Media Gateway combination offers
the flexibility and reliability that growing companies need. With the
full capabilities of Avaya Communication Manager and an internal Layer 2
Ethernet switch, this scalable solution can be used as a total converged
stand-alone solution for a growing or midsize enterprise.
The configuration leverages the distributed architecture benefits of a
stand-alone media
gateway or a media server/media gateway concept and provides a
standards-based IP
communications infrastructure - without compromising applications,
reliability, and multi-service networking. The solution is modular and
supports stackable, hot-swappable, redundant architectures. It can be
integrated with the Avaya P330 stackable switching system to provide a
single, fault-tolerant, highly flexible voice and data solution,
including power over Ethernet support. The Avaya IA 770 Multimedia
Messaging Application, embedded in the Avaya S8300 Media Server,
delivers voice in a way that enhances and simplifies the exchange of
information within small to mid-size enterprises, as well as small
locations of large enterprises.
