Borders General Hospital
Borders General Hospital and incovo are pleased to announce a new Wireless LAN (WLAN) project to extend Wireless LAN capabilities to the hospital campus incorporating the Accident & Emergency, Endoscopy and Radiology departments. The new WLAN network, based on Avaya AP3 Access points supporting both 802.11a and 802.11b/g standards will complement the existing Avaya Wireless Bridge links to remote buildings within the hospital complex.
The need for WLAN capability in the hospital was driven by the demands for mobility of not only hospital staff but, increasingly, mobility of clinical equipment within these departments. The installed wireless LAN infrastructure meets current data mobility needs and will also support enhanced wireless standards when they become ratified. The infrastructure will also support the new wireless telephony products from Spectralink leading to complete voice and data mobility via a single wireless infrastructure
This new project enhances the existing long-term relationship between Borders General Hospital and incovo, which stretches back over 8 years. From the early days of an X25 network, through to the first Ethernet installations, from the upgrade to a sophisticated switched Ethernet network and now to combined fixed and wireless connectivity, incovo and Borders General have maintained a close working relationship and have developed with one another over the years to provide the hospital with a network, which meets its demands today and in the future. incovo looks forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Borders General Hospital for many years to come.
